Linguistics-Superstars Week

In march, two of the most famous linguists of the last century are coming to Germany! On March 16, William Labov will speak about “The Community as the Focus of Social Cognition” at the 34th International LAUD Symposium hosted by the University of Landau. And on march 24, Noam Chomsky will give a special lecture about “Poverty of Stimulus: Unfinished Business” at the University of Mainz. I think this will be a unique opportunity to see these two prominent linguists, whose names stand for two opposing approaches to the study of language, within one week in Rhineland-Palatinate.
